Water Systems Specialties, based in Thomaston, Connecticut, is a trusted provider of certified operations for small public water systems. With decades of experience, we are proud to be Class II Certified Water Treatment Plant and Water Distribution System Operators, licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH).

We serve a wide range of clients, including school districts, commercial and community water utilities, daycare centers, YMCA camps, campgrounds, private estates, and private water systems. Our expertise spans all aspects of water treatment and filtration, from multi-well systems to public and private water supplies.

At Water Systems Specialties, we believe that prevention is key. Our mission is to help small water systems deliver safe, reliable water through scheduled monitoring and preventive maintenance. By proactively managing your system, we help minimize risks to both water quality and quantity.

To ensure accuracy and compliance, we utilize our own DPH-certified laboratory for comprehensive water testing and mandatory reporting. Whether you need routine maintenance, emergency service, or full system management, we’re here to provide dependable, expert support every step of the way.

What Is a Public Water Supply?

A Public Water System (PWS) is defined as any water supply that serves at least 25 people for a minimum of 60 days per year. These systems are categorized into:

  • Community Water Systems (e.g., residential neighborhoods)
  • Non-Transient Non-Community Systems (e.g., schools, factories)
  • Transient Non-Community Systems (e.g., campgrounds, restaurants)

For Community and Non-Transient Non-Community systems, Connecticut law requires the involvement of a certified operator to ensure compliance with state and federal water quality regulations.

Why Hire Water Systems Specialties?

Hiring a certified operator is not just a regulatory requirement—it’s a critical step in ensuring safe, reliable water for your facility or community. Our team holds multiple DPH certifications, including:
